Glocal EcoHabitats Network

Glocal EcoHabitats Network

The EcoHabitats Glocal Network is an entrepreneurial ecosystem of individuals and non-profit associations who are committed to and actively support the values of regeneration, the rights of nature, bioregionalism, personal integrity, equity, regenerative agriculture, and respect for indigenous wisdom and ways of life on the planet. These individuals and associations are pooling capital resources in order to protect, preserve and enhance multiple habitats, watersheds and bioregional territories around the world.

BioHabitats

An AlterNative Glocal Nation is being created that is not defined by traditional distribution or geographic boundaries, but recognizes them as part of the circumstances. It is starting with organically organized local regions and communities (Bio-Habitats), and in the future will incorporate the natural bio-regions.

This new Glocal Nation organization will have an Integral Holistic BioCentric Vision and will use general principles of regeneration to coordinate its members through a radically fair and transparent governance and economy.

1. Regional projects around the globe. For local communities and bio-habitats, empowering stakeholders from diverse regions of the world to lead regenerative territories adapted to their unique contexts. This is the Transition Fund of the EcoHabitats & Territories Initiative, Hub/Global Network.

2. Investment projects that generate an increase of abundance in the global ecosystem. They support regenerative and income-generating investments, such as real estate, businesses, companies, startups, credits and ecological services (biodiversity), investments in assets and others. It is called Gaia Investment Fund.

3. Impact projects created from Gaia Commons. These address high-impact and emergency situations, such as hunger, malnutrition and natural disasters. This is called the Gaia Impact Fund and Hub.

Contributors, donors or investors provide the capital, which will be tokenized by the Gaia Commons “Bank”, and then invested in the ReFi common pools, which are:

  • ReFi Pool A: land or infrastructure.
  • ReFi Pool B: production of Products & Services.
  • ReFi Pool C: general operations of the Agency.
  • ReFi Pool D: Philanthropic Funds for Ecological and Social Restauration

Governance of the EcoHabitats Glocal Network within the Gaia Commons Model

Governance

As the Ecohabitats Glocal Network is part of Gaia Commons, the governance of the network is defined by Gaia Commons.
Gaia Commons has its own governance model, which ensures transparency, distributed governance and collective decision making in an efficient way and respecting diverse voices. It is organized in a Fractal and Distributed way from various coordinating roles and multiple working groups, which are called Spheres and Holons for the various areas of development, both operational, governance and thematic.

Spheres or Holons are entities or groups of people involved in a collaborative activity within a larger community.  Each holon is autonomous yet interdependent with other holons, serving together the realization of the purpose of Gaia Commons.

The Gaia BioHabitats (GBH) and their specific projects have their own General Governance Model. These GBH are territorial (local) organizations based on affiliations (memberships), where anyone can become a member by registering and contributing with dues, either in time, money, goods or services.

Voting Categories

Governance power is distributed among the local community, local guardians, and global guardians. Each person has one vote, and each vote goes through a balanced bucket system (used by the classic Commons Land Trust boards), which corresponds directly and proportionally to how that voter is connected to each biohabitat, territory, bio-region or country, to the global network and to the project in question. So then you have 3 voting categories, each with the same categorical weight:

  • General members (33.3%), local people who belong to the project.
  • Local and/or National Guardians (33.3%), national or bioregional guardians, referees or custodians, representatives recognized by Gaia Commons and the local community.

Global Guardians of Gaia – and/or in some cases external benefactors (33.3%). Ideally in this category 100% would normally be held by Gaia Commons, i.e. 33.3% of the total, or at least 51%, i.e. 16.9% of the total.

Bio-Hubs

As we saw before, each Bio-region or Bio-habitat will have Physical Bio-Hubs as its epicenter, which serve as centers of regenerative practices, community support and ecosystem preservation. These physical Bio-Hubs can also be referred to as:

– BioRegional Hubs or BioHabitats [BRHs (Bioregional Hubs) or BioHubs].

– Community Resource Centers (CRCs)

– BioRegional Learning Centers [BLCs or Bioregional Learning Centers].

Bio-Hubs, central to the mission of Gaia Commons, are the place where knowledge is translated into action, ideas into realities, and where local communities become the catalysts for positive transformation.

By supporting and strengthening the network of Bio-Hubs (BLCs / CRCs), Gaia Commons is laying the foundation for a sustainable, inclusive, community-based approach to poverty alleviation. These centers are more than physical spaces; they are the seeds from which regenerative practices and empowerment take root and grow. Their creation is the embodiment of Gaia Commons’ commitment to making a tangible difference at the grassroots level, ensuring that no community is left behind on the path to a brighter, more prosperous world.

Coverage and effective support.

These centers are designed to tailor their initiatives to the unique contexts and requirements of the regions they serve. For this reason, Gaia Commons tailors the approach and structure of the Bio-Hubs to regional characteristics, needs and strengths. For those Bio-Regions with enormous geographic and demographic diversity, multiple Bio-Hubs can be established and strategically located to ensure comprehensive coverage and effective support. Bio-Hubs can adopt specialized focus areas to address the unique needs of different regions.

A fundamental commitment of the Bio-Hubs is to the celebration and preservation of local cultures, traditions and heritage. Innovative initiatives with positive impact can be incubated and supported to expand their reach on a bioregional and global scale. Collaboration among Bio-Hubs is supported to address unique global or regional challenges.

The dynamic heartbeat of transformation

Bio-Hubs also serve as training centers for local leaders; the epicenter of funding coordination; catalysts for regional transformation; as well as hubs for global collaboration and knowledge sharing.

In essence, the BioRegional HUBs/BioHabitats (BRHs or Bio-Hubs) are the dynamic heartbeat of transformation within the global initiative. They are where the mission takes tangible form and the commitment to create a world of regenerative prosperity is realized. These centers are the embodiment of the dedication to a future where poverty disappears, communities thrive and shared abundance endures.

National / BioRegional /
Local Associations

At the Global level, Gaia Agency is the one that serves the global regenerative projects, providing legal, administrative, marketing and other services. The national Associations have their own national agency that are a fractal of the global Agency, and interact in turn with the fractal at the local level and / or specific projects.

The Associations can develop any social, commercial or civil economic activity. And they will seek to achieve their goals by carrying out activities such as:

Planning, executing and evaluating projects that respond to the vision, mission and objectives, as well as facilitating them to obtain funding; creating and granting sponsorships and programs for projects that serve the development of the human being and the ecosystem; generating alliances to expand the Global Community Network; signing cooperation agreements with organizations to execute joint programs and projects; achieving the active participation of all members of the community in programs and projects; among others.

SECTORS TO IMPACT

We prioritize programs with the highest potential for social and ecological impact and transformation. Our directed efforts concentrate on the most significant needs to generate maximum impact for every dollar invested. We respond to pressing global challenges, from socio-economic disparities to environmental crises, ensuring our initiatives make a tangible difference.

Education

Through the promotion of global awareness, skill enhancement and inclusive learning, the goal of Gaia Commons Hub is to cultivate a well-informed generation that is strongly equipped to face global challenges.

We offer educational opportunities to support people in learning ways to live more holistically and connected to nature and to life, both virtually and face-to-face.

There is a wide variety of educational programs created to increase people’s capacity for living more self-sufficiently and interdependently, by having an aligned network and community of regenerative specialists in very diverse fields with ideal environments for training.

Our network provides access to digital resources focused on empowering sovereignty and resilience among the members of Gaia Hub. It also provides tools to strengthen social relationships and skills in managing and re-allocating resources. Our approach respects local customs, traditions, priorities and needs.

Agriculture

Gaia Hub’s influence on the agricultural sector foregrounds sustainable practices that prioritize ecological balance and community welfare. By championing permaculture, agroforestry, agroecology, regenerative practices and biomimicry, the Hub seeks to rejuvenate soil health, promote biodiversity, and reduce reliance on harmful chemicals.

These practices ensure a consistent, nutrient-rich food supply, enhancing local food security. Additionally, by cultivating indigenous crops and fostering diverse ecosystems, Gaia Hub plays a pivotal role in safeguarding vital pollinators and indigenous biodiversity.

Gaia Hub invests in education and hands-on training for local farmers, fostering self-sufficiency and broadening the adoption of sustainable methods. Circular agricultural systems are emphasized, where waste from one process becomes valuable input for another, minimizing waste and enhancing soil quality.

Through establishing platforms connecting farmers directly with consumers, the Hub also facilitates fair pricing and transparent transactions, solidifying its commitment to both environmental and socio-economic upliftment.

Housing & Conservation / Real State

Gaia Hub’s approach to land development goes beyond conventional real estate models. We prioritize ecological balance and community cohesion.

By viewing each land acquisition not just as property, but as a canvas for regeneration, it seamlessly integrates permaculture principles and sustainable design. This focus ensures the land’s potential is maximized, bolstering natural ecosystems and promoting biodiversity, all while utilizing resources judiciously.

The built infrastructures stand as a testament to eco-friendly materials and practices which are harmonic with the environment. These spaces evolve into vibrant communities and hubs of innovation. Serving as educational landmarks, they equip residents and visitors with insights into sustainable living.

In essence, Gaia Hub’s land development endeavors sow the seeds for a future rooted in shared environmental responsibility and interconnectedness.

Social Business

Gaia Hub plays a pivotal role in the business sector by supporting startups and companies that emphasize on social, environmental, and community values. By being consistent with our own values, we promote the development of responsible businesses.

With financial backing, mentorship, and a vast expert network, early-stage ventures thrive, leading to job creation and a sustainability-focused entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Partnered established companies revitalize their operations to be eco-friendly and ethically grounded, influencing their entire supply chains. Innovative solutions tackle global challenges, from renewable energy to sustainable materials.

Through Gaia Hub’s influence, transparency and collaborative business models become the gold standard, ensuring businesses are attuned to global needs.
